Experts Predict Rise of Data Theft in Ransomware Attacks

The likelihood of data theft in a ransomware attack is higher than one in 10, and it’s predicted to grow as criminals target businesses prepared to pay to avoid exposure, according to researchers at security software company Emisoft. ID Ransomware, a website used to identify different types of ransomware,  received 100,001 submissions related to attacks by ransomware groups that targeted public- and private-sector organisations in the first six months of 2020.
