Facebook mistakenly stored millions of passwords in plain text

Facebook is back in the news with a controversy when today it was revealed that the platform mistakenly kept a copy of passwords for hundreds of millions of users in plaintext.

It was also exposed that Instagram users were affected by this incident.

A Facebook spokesperson stated that no password was exposed out of Facebook and that there are no indications that the passwords were not used in a malicious manner.

Facebook has now fixed the issue and recommends that users change their passwords.
