Four Chinese Military Officers Charged in the US over Equifax Huge Hack

The United States has charged four Chinese Military Officers over the huge cyber-attack on credit rating giant Equifax. More than 147 million Americans were affected by this attack back in 2017 where hackers got their hands on personal data such as names and addresses.

According to official court papers, the four military officers are members of the People’s Liberation Army’s 54th Research Institute – a branch within the Chinese Military. It also explains how these officers spent weeks in the company’s system, breaking into security networks and stealing what was labelled as sensitive data such as database designs.

A spokesperson for the Chinese Government has said that their military never engages in cyber-theft of trade secrets.
