Prime Minister Robert Abela refers to several attempts by others to try to act as people or other entities, while generating content online.
The Prime Minister himself was the victim of a similar attack on August 15, when emails were sent on his behalf to some journalists.
A report was immediately made to the Malta Information and Technology Agency (MITA).
The fact that in recent days there have been attempts to publicly build a number of articles specifically designed to mislead the reading and following public is a matter of concern.
While the police are continuing with their investigations, the Prime Minister will ask the National Cybersecurity Committee to use the knowledge of its members, and the fact that it brings together all stakeholders, to come up with proposals on how to strengthen the fight against such acts.
Not only are these acts reprehensible, they have no place in society.
